Greenville Together – A home for All

Greenville’s United Effort to End Homelessness

Homelessness affects us all, but Greenville is taking action. Greenville Together: A Home For All is a united effort bringing together community leaders, organizations, and residents to create lasting solutions. Our mission is clear and focused:

  • Provide Immediate Support – Ensuring people experiencing homelessness today have access to critical resources, shelter, and housing solutions.
  • Build Long-Term Prevention – Strengthening systems to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring.

This vision is backed by a One-Year Action Plan to reduce unsheltered homelessness and a Three-Year Comprehensive Plan to drive lasting change. Our commitment is clear: everyone in Greenville deserves a safe and stable place to call home.

Together, we can make a lasting impact—because home is where a strong community begins.

Planning For the Future

The Team Driving Change

Our plan relies on leaders from every corner of the community. Four key groups are working together to make Greenville Together a success:

  • Community Task Force: Composed of leaders from diverse backgrounds, including individuals with firsthand experience of homelessness, this group developed a one-year plan to address unsheltered homelessness. They worked closely with expert advisors Barbara Poppe and Associates (BPA) to finalize and commit to the plan.
  • Lived Experience Council: This group includes people who have experienced homelessness in Greenville. Their insights and support helped shape the plan, and some members also participate in the Community Task Force.
  • Steering Committee: Responsible for overall guidance and strategic direction of Greenville Together, ensuring alignment with community needs and priorities.
  • United Backbone Partnership: Greenville Together is a collaborative effort led by a diverse group of community partners. United Way of Greenville County serves as the fiscal sponsor and lead backbone, United Housing Connections leads on data, and United Ministries provides leadership in integrating lived experience perspectives.

Our Vision

A Future Without Unsheltered Homelessness

Greenville envisions achieving “functional zero” for unsheltered homelessness—a milestone that ensures systems are in place to make homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. While this doesn’t mean no one will ever face homelessness, it guarantees that those who do will be quickly rehoused, and prevention systems will reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence.
